Joshua French Bulldogs, Breeding Better Dogs for 55 years!
We are located in beautiful central Florida, in the little town of Wilwood which, is next door to the largest retirement center in the world, “The Villages." Lemuel David Miller was born in 1952 and his parents Ralph and Hazel always saw to it that Lemuel had a good dog. But, having a good dog wasn’t enough for Lem. He wanted to train and breed dogs. At 10 years old, Lem was already putting on demonstrations with his dog and started his small family breeding program. He has been involved in breeding, and training ever since. By the time he was 19, he was a professional dog trainer. His expertise was with bird dogs (pointing breeds) and at 21 was the youngest individual to ever win the pointing breed Field Trial, “The Southern Shooting Dog Classic.” Having his name engraved on the Classics $2,000.00 Silver Bowl in 1973, was a big deal. Wow! It’s still a big deal. Professionally, Lemuel is a minister and Bishop, which means he oversees 8 churches and ministries. However, his love for dogs began early in life and because of it, he has become one of the leading authorities and breeders of American Bulldogs in the world. He and family, wife DaVonne, children Heather, Joshua and Rachel have bred and trained 8 National Champions. Who else do you know that has accomplished that?
Lemuel has also authored 11 books from 3 different fields…Ministry, Martial Arts, and Training dogs. His book “American Bulldogs Stories, Facts & Legends,” is known as the “ Definitive Book” of American Bulldogs. He also authored "Training the American Bulldog," Training your Frenchie," and “Peeing, Pooping, Puppies” …these books have been sold world wide.
In the mid 80’s Lemuel started his children Heather, Joshua and Rachel in their family dog business, simply to teach them responsibility. Who knew, that all these years later it would still be going strong. Naming the Kennel after his son Joshua, the name has become one of the most respected names in breeding kennels…representing honesty and integrity as well as winning “Breeder of the Year,” several times.
A few years ago, son Joshua bought his daughter Presley, a French Bulldog, and behold…another breed the family has fallen in love with. The Miller’s said; "Here at Joshua French Bulldogs, we like rare and unusual things so, we enjoy French Bulldogs of rare colors. It is our ambition to raise Frenchies that are healthy, sound, good temperament, correct in conformation, but also beautifully rare and intelligent bulldogs. Due to our selective breeding, puppies inherit the best qualities from their parents." In addition, Joshua French Bulldogs offers registration for our Frenchies with the AKC, and the NKC. Lemuel is on the board of directors with the National Kennel Club for the American Bulldog thus, he and family have much loyalty to developing the breeds involved with the NKC.
